Smog in the city
In cities, polluted air is often called smog. This kind of air pollution is caused by power plants, industries, the exhaust of cars and other traffic by substances called ozone and fine particle pollution. Breathing in polluted air is harmful. If this pollution goes on, the air loses its power. Let’s do the assignments and find out how we can protect the powers of the earth
What do you think children can do against smog when they live in a city?
Children can do nothing. This smog is caused by the people that manufacture cars and other vehicles and the people that drive in it.
Children in cities can ask their parents not to drive to work, but take the train or subway. They can also suggest walking to school themselves, take a bike or go by tram or subway instead of asking their parents to drive them to school by car.
Can the air on the county side or in small villages also be polluted?
No, air pollution is only a problem in big cities, so when you live on the county side you have nothing to worry about and you can use cares and buses as much as you like.
Yes, because polluted air can be carried there by the wind or result from cars and trucks travelling into rural areas. Air pollution can travel as far as 250 miles (402 kilometers) downwind from cities.
